Dr. Patrawalla has been in private psychiatric practice for over 25 years and has been on staff at Overlook Hospital for over 20 years. She was trained in hypnosis by Dr. Martin Orne at the Institute of Pennsylvania Hospital and uses hypnosis in her practice. Dr. Patrawalla specializes in geriatric psychiatry. She has experience as consulting psychiatrist at various nursing homes and was Medical Director for older adults at American Day Treatment Center in Morristown, NJ. Dr. Patrawalla is knowledgeable in and uses a nutritional approach in her practice when appropriate. She has successfully treated many patients with bipolar disorder and has a particular interest in this illness. Dr. Patrawalla also has experience with stress management, especially working mothers and gender discrimination matters. She was president of the New Jersey Women’s Medical Association. She is a medical advisor for a Bipolar Disorder and Depression self-help support group.
